 1.3       Dunsford primary school value 

A total of 67 households (57%) rated the school of value to them. 

Comments included: 

As a childless household the village school offers no immediate use to us. However the school is essential to the vitality of the village and should be strongly supported. 

“Not any more! It does still provide community focus, though.” 

“It was when our children were younger.” 

“The school is a vital part of any village” 

“It’s an important part of any community, giving a balanced cross section encourages families to live here.” 

“Vital part of a village community” 

“I think that should we lose the school, it would be detrimental to the  whole village.” 

“Most valuable part of the village”

 The most popular markets to buy groceries are in order: an Exeter supermarket (31%), Dunsford Post Office (29%), another supermarket (10%) or farm produce (10%). 

When asked to identify which market was purchased from most often, 83 households responded, with an Exeter supermarket being the most preferred (72%), followed by Dunsford Post Office (12%), another supermarket (8%), home delivery (4%), farm produce (2%), then organic vegetable box and other (both 1%). 

In analysing the age ranges of householders buying groceries, the age of the lead person completing the questionnaire was used. 

Dunsford Post Office is most important for residents aged over 60, representing 30% of their market for groceries. Of those who use an Exeter supermarket as a place to shop, 75% are in the 50+ age range. 

1.5       Vehicles in the household 

The average number of vehicles per household is 1.80, with a range of 1 to 5 cars.
