General
education in the County of Devon is under the control of Devon County
Council - Education, Arts & Libraries Directorate.
The majority
of children progress from Primary School through Secondary School to
Higher Education, the latter including Technical Colleges and other
specialist Colleges and to University.
An
increasing number of parents are taking the Private Education route
starting at Primary School or later.
"Education"
prior to primary school eg. toddlers or pre-school, is usually in the hands
of the parents themselves or privately organised carers, both of which are
catered for in Dunsford. .
DUNSFORD is
particularly fortunate in having our own Primary School located in the
middle of the village. It is well regarded and some pupils
commute to Dunsford from out side the parish.
Pupils
following the state education path normally leave Dunsford Primary School
when they are 11 years of age and commute to Teign Comprehensive School
located in Kingsteignton on the outskirts of Newton Abbot some ??? miles
away. Public school transport is provided.
Dunsford is
within commuting distance from a large range of Higher educational
facilities including Exeter College and the University of
Exeter. Many of the Colleges provide extensive
facilities for Further Education for adults of all ages and abilities.
